Myerscough Junior Competitions & Certification Program
Myerscough ‘Stepping Stones’
Building from 2016, we have the tees back in place for our ‘Stepping Stones’ certification program . On the journey of progression, juniors should be able to play a golf course that is CHALLENGING not IMPOSSIBLE. Traditionally juniors are told to play 18 holes as that is the ‘norm’ and because it’s ‘good for their character’. However, what most clubs don’t see is the time it takes to complete and amount of heartache in playing a MASSIVE golf course. Imagine going to play a 7,500 yard 18-hole golf course, then you’ll understand the impossible task most juniors face.
Therefore, we have introduced 3 levels of tees, scaled from ‘Driver Carry Distance’ (50, 100 & 150 yard carry). From these scales, we have used a gps & laser to measure the golf course and create relative par 3s/4s & 5s. Worked on an average score basis, below shows the full 5 levels and score average required to move onto the next level:
Level 1 (50 yd Driver Carry) – Avg Score per hole *8* (e.g. 72 for 9 Holes)
Level 2 (100 yd Driver Carry) – Avg Score per hole *7* (e.g. 63 for 9 Holes)
Level 3 (150 yd Driver Carry) – Avg Score per hole *6* (e.g. 54 for 9 Holes)
Level 4 (Red ADULT Tees) – Avg Score per hole *7* (e.g. 63 for 9 Holes)
Level 5 (Red ADULT Tees) – Avg Score per hole *6* (e.g. 54 for 9 Holes)
To move up each level you must shoot on or below the score for your level 3 times. Once completed, you will be rewarded with a certificate.
