Course Updates – PROJECT WORK
Hello All!
As promised, below is a FULL report of ongoing and future projects we are excited to update on and announce:
1. Contracted Projects – 9th Pond & 4th Fairway
We are currently seeking FINAL quotes for:
a. Digging out the pond on the 9th hole & installing surface drainage
b. Drainage on 4th fairway
Investment is already in place to fund these projects and work will commence once the new pitching area drainage is complete. (All of which we predict, weather permitting, will be completed before Christmas).
2. Groundstaff Projects
a. Course Maintenance
As you may already have seen, we currently have Kyle completing the verti-draining of our fairways and John has successfully sprayed ALL greens for protection through winter (please ensure if you go to another course, you fully clean your shoes so that disease does not spread to our greens).
b. New 5th Tee (Astro Surrounds & Grass)
As you may have already seen, we have had a ‘state of the art’ astroturf mat built for winter use – this is currently OUT OF PLAY until our groundstaff have fully completed works to the surrounding area. This tee is NOT the main tee, it is the winter tee, from which a grass tee will be built back to its full playing length (similar to the old 1st hole).
Our groundstaff will be completing the construction of the grass tee throughout the winter, aiming to be available for play in the 2017 season.
c. Fairway Bunker Drainage (Both) – 2nd Hole
Our groundstaff will also be installing drainage in BOTH fairway bunkers on the 2nd hole – we do apologise for having these as GUR for a while, however these will be ready for the 2017 season also.
3. My Projects
a. New Tee Plaques & Scorecards
With work underway and the 2016 season over, I will now be actively sourcing new tee plaques and scorecards to apply the finishing touches to our course’s re-structure of holes.
Concluding Message
During the winter months please expect minor disruptions to play, such as hole closures, to allow for the above work to be done. By next spring I firmly believe we will reap the benefits of all the hard work and investment being put into not only our golf course, but also our short game practice facilities (which are available to you all as members, outside of college teaching time – post 5pm on weekdays and ALL times on weekends).
I would like to say thank you for both your patience and support throughout this year, it has been a year of progress, which we aim to continue from now onwards. We will also continue to update you on progress with ALL projects (contracted & non-contracted).
If you have any queries please email:
Be well,
Mike & The Groundstaff Team.
