Summer League competition
- The competition will consist of ten qualifying rounds to be played on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday from Friday 9th May 2014 until Sunday 24th August 2014. Followed by a final play-off on Saturday 6th September 2014. Players may only submit one qualifying card per qualifying weekend
- Qualifying rounds may be played anytime over a fixture weekend. On the day of the final the first tee off will be at 10.00. All qualifiers are to have checked in with club officials by no later than 09.45. Players arriving later than 09.45 will be disqualified from the final (Note B).
- There will be a £5 registration fee to join the league and players will pay £2.50 each time they play; £2 of which will be a contribution to the prize fund and 50p will be added to a league long “2’s” sweep. No fee will be required for the final.
- The qualifying competition will be over 9 holes. The final will be over 18 holes (See point 14 and 15), all stages of the Summer League will be scored using the stableford points scoring system.
- Members with active handicaps can play using their full handicap with the following handicap limits. 36 shots (18 over 9 holes) for ladies and juniors. 28 shots (14 over 9 holes) for gentlemen. Players whose handicap is higher than this will be allowed to take part in the league but their scores will be calculated using the appropriate maximum handicap.
- Members without active handicaps may only use ¾ of their registered handicap and restricted as per point 6, until such time as their handicap becomes active when the full handicap may be used.
- In order for any round to be eligible for qualification a player must register before they play. This can be done at the sports centre reception or if available via staff in the indoor practice area. Players can also register via email “[email protected]” or text 07813 984 654. Players who register in this way will be liable to pay the £2.50 fee whether they actually play or not unless they withdraw their intention to play prior to their intended tee time. No scores will be accepted unless the players have previously been registered, no exceptions. (See Note A).
- All scores cards must be signed by both the player and a marker. The marker must be a member of Myerscough golf club. The marker must also be a playing partner. However the marker is not required to have entered the competition or be playing in that particular qualifying round to enable submission of the other players qualifying card.
- Out of all possible qualifying rounds, all qualifiers must have submitted at least four qualifying cards from the qualification stage. The best four rounds submitted per player count to towards the finals qualification. The top nine players with the best four round total scores, including ties will automatically qualify for the final (This number may be increased depending on the number of players who enter but will not lead to more than one third of entrants qualifying to play in the final automatically).
- A further two final places will be available for the two players who have scored the highest total accrued number of points over all qualifying rounds, not already qualified under point 9,
- One further finals place will be available to the player with the highest single qualifying round score, providing at least 4 qualifying cards have been submitted, not already qualified as per points 9 or 10.
- In addition to the places being competed for at points 9 -11 there are two additional places each available to the highest placed ladies and juniors
- In the event of multiple fixtures being cancelled the number of qualifying scores may be reduced accordingly. If the course is closed for a single day without the fixture being cancelled. All qualifying cards submitted will be eligible. If the course is closed for two days. Cancellation of that fixture will reside with the committee.
- The groupings for the final will be randomly drawn with 3 players in each group. If this cannot be achieved groups of 4 players will be formed up on the later tee off times.
- In the final the player with the highest Stableford score over the 18 hole final will be the winner. In the event of a tie normal count back will apply. If still undecided the player/s with highest number of 2’s will qualify. If still undecided then a hole by hole putting contest on the outdoor putting areas will decide the winner.
- The winner of the Summer League Final will qualify to play in the annual two day Pro-Am tournament. Moreover, he/she will also receive the Summer League trophy. Prizes will be awarded to players placed 2nd and 3rd in the finals. All players making the final will be presented with a keepsake to mark qualification to the final. Details will be made available prior to the completion of the qualifying rounds.
- Local rules will be published in reception and the indoor practice area prior to the start of each competition round. These local rules apply for each qualification round and the final if required and will cover each fixture.
- Issues arising during the competition. If an issue occurs during the competition any/all interested party/parties are to submit any concerns to the attention of the Club officials as soon as possible.
Note A – While there are outstanding entry fees. Competitors will not be eligible continue in the competition or enter future club competitions. If fees are not settled Myerscough golf club reserves the right to add any outstanding competition fees to membership renewals.
Note B – In special circumstances and in advance. A player may request they are placed in latest or later groups if they are unable to make the published check time. However the competition will not be delayed to accommodate any late arrivals. If a player misses there allocated tee off time they will be withdrawn from the final.
